Profit From Nanotechnology's Dream Material

Carbon nanotubes, nanotechnology's dream material and the posterchild of nanotech evangelists, may become the first application to truly transform nanotechnology from an exciting science with great potential to a real commercial force. The first signs of this happening come from the recent merger of Houston-based nanotube manufacturer Carbon Nanotechnologies Inc. (CNI) with Unidym, a subsidiary of Pasadena, Calif.-based nanotech commercialization specialist Arrowhead Research (ARWR). Arrowhead paid $5.4 million in common stock and an undisclosed number of Unidym shares to merge with CNI. The new company is known as Unidym with headquarters at Menlo Park, Calif.
